Hoewel voor een aantal rassen inmiddels ook in Europa of andere landen een (stamboek)vereniging of iets van dien aard is opgericht, bestaat er meestal ook zoiets als een 'moederstamboek' -of 'registratie' in het land van herkomst. 
Het is niet altijd helemaal duidelijk wat nu het 'moederstamboek' is en soms zijn er meerdere organisaties die zich als zodanig profileren.

Dit ras was één van de voorouders van de Pasopaarden en bezat behalve de speciale pasogang en uitstraling en als bijzonderste kenmerk een regenboog van kleuren en aftekeningen zoals appaloosa en bont.
